    This article examines Bourdieu’s adoption of Husserl’s concept of ‘doxa’ and argues that Bourdieu’s reading of Husserl overpolarizes doxa (or sens pratique) and reflexivity. My starting point for this consideration is my understanding that the paramount purpose of the commemorative events is to honour the wartime service of all military personnel and, in particular, those who died. Surely, all elements of commemorative events should embody and reflect this purpose?
